DEFENSIVE SHOTS
* Any time a player strikes the cue Ball with no Intention to pocket a ball
* Trying to strike an object ball and drive it to a rail to avoid giving up ball in hand
* Intentionally hiding the cue ball or tapping an Object ball to block the opponent form making legel hit or pocket a ball
* picking up the cue ball and handing it to the opposing player
ANYTIME A PLAYER TAKES THEIR TURN AT THE POOL TABLE AND DOES NOT INTEND TO POCKET A BALL IS A DEFENSIVE SHOT
BOTH TEAMS SHOULD MARK DEFENSIVE SHOTS DOWN AGAINST BOTH PLAYERS AT ALL TIMES IT IS THE ONLY WAY THE HANDICAPS OF THE PLAYERS WILL REMAIN FAIR FOR ALL THE PLAYERS
BREAKING *BREAKING PLAYER NEVER LOSES THE BREAK Regardless of how many times the breaking player attempts to break UNLESS the breaking Player "FOULS" on the Break
(an object ball in the Rack must be struck before any foul can occur.)
4 Balls must hit a rail or an object Ball must be pocketed for a Break to be considered "LEGAL"
"Breaking Soft" Break hard enough to maintain control repeated complaints of Soft Breaking may result in loss of team points or even suspension of a player
IF PLAYER DOES NOT BREAK AS LISTED BELOW, BALLS ARE RERACKED same player BREAKS AGAIN
8 BALL 1st ball or 2nd row of balls must be struck first for a legal break
9 BALL head or 1st ball in rack (one ball is first ball in rack) must be struck first for a legal break
LONG MATCHES 8 BALL MATCHES SHOULD BE DONE IN 4 HOURS 30 MINUTES
9 BALL MATCHES SHOULD BE DONE IN 3 HOURS 45 MINUTES
INDIVIDUAL MATCHES SHOULD TAKE OVER 45 MINUTES REGARDLESS OF THE PLAYERS HANDICAPS
SLOW PLAYERS SOME PLAYERS HAVE BEEN INTENTIONALLY PLAYING SLOW (form of sharking) TAKING OVER 1 HOUR TO 1 HR 35 MINUTES TO PLAY A MATCH
Both teams should use their cell phones to time how long a player takes to attempt a shot and send league a text on slow players so we can address the issue and keep the matches playing within the guidlelines
TIMEOUTS LASTING OVER 60 SECONDS NO TIMEOUT should last more than 1 minute. Coach the player and walk away this includes getting another person to look at the table with the coach
PLAYERS ASK FOR A TIME OUT...TEAM CAN REFUSE TO GIVE PLAYER A TIMEOUT
ANYONE ON TEAM ASKS OR IMPLIES THAT THE PLAYER NEEDS A TIME OUT THE TEAM MUST BE CHARGED WITH A TIME OUT EX "Do you want to talk about it" "do you want help" or "telling the player they have a timeout if they want to use it" PLAYER is charged with a time out so the team may as well give the player a time out
